I was able to get through some more of grandfather’s paperwork, thought it’s really slow going, and I came across something else strange. I believe it’s some sort of receipt for that vampire hunter’s kit. Well, not so much a receipt, as there’s no specific cost associated with it, but it’s a type-written letter that talks about ‘blessed ash stakes’, holy water, and something called ‘Powder of Ibn Ghazi’? I have no idea what that might be. It also mentions incantations and some kind of ‘special item’ as well. Based on that, I have to assume it’s referring to the vampire kit, and by the tone of the letter it’s definitely not a prop, and the guy who got it for my grandfather – ‘D’ – seems unhappy with the purchase.
I know I don’t have a lot of information to go on yet – I’m just getting bits and pieces so far – but what I get from this letter (other than yet another uneasy feeling) is that my grandfather Joe was taking some kind of active role in something strange and, I’m going to say it here – supernatural. It also seems, from the older letter I found earlier and the telegram about shadows, that my great-grandfather Wilfred was also involved in something unusual. I can’t say these things were connected, not for certain, but let’s face it – the odds are good that they were, and that they are definitely connected to what’s going on with me.
I need to find more pieces of the puzzle and try to figure out what to do next.
